Oak Lane Physiotherapy provides assessment and treatment of a wide variety of muscle and joint-related conditions, such as muscle strains, joint sprains, fractures, surgeries, arthritis flare-ups, general pain, headaches, and total joint replacements. A thorough assessment will identify problems and will be used in combination with patient goals to create a fully customized treatment program, including hands-on treatment, education, and modalities. A key component to any successful treatment program will feature a comprehensive, customized home exercise program.
Concussion Management
A Concussion is type of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and can occur with impacts to the head or after sudden or forceful neck trauma. These could be caused by a motor vehicle accident, contact in sports, or due to a fall. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and are unique to each individual. Oak Lane Physiotherapy can assist in your post-concussion recovery by assessing and treating neck-related injury, visual and vestibular dysfunction, and balance deficits. If necessary, referrals will be made to assist in your recovery, including to Occupational Therapy, Vision Therapy, and/or Social Work/Counselling in order to maximize your recovery.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Dizziness, vertigo, and loss of balance are common issues that can affect people of all ages. These issues can have a significant impact on quality of life and may also lead to a loss of activity participation. A comprehensive assessment of the vestibular system can be used to diagnose vestibular dysfunctions, such as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV or “the crystals in my ear”) and unilateral vestibular hypo-function. A customized treatment program will be created, which may include home exercises, BPPV-specific maneuvers, and balance exercises. Patient education is also an essential component of Vestibular Rehabilitation, as it allows patients to understand how the difficulties that they are experiencing in life are related to the vestibular system.
